In addition to his many years of experience as an oboe teacher, Stewart Grant is also an experienced teacher of other musical subjects, offering composition lessons, music history lessons and music theory lessons in his private studio.

He takes a highly creative approach to music theory which he developed early in his career with colleagues at the McGill Faculty of Music, allowing students to discover how music works by having them compose their own music from the very outset.

Over the course of his career, he has presented hundreds of educational concerts in schools.

He is a regular lecturer at the Centre culturel de Pointe-Claire, Stewart Hall, and is well known for his informative introductions to the music he performs in concert as a conductor and oboist.

He has acted as an adjudicator or jury member for MusicFest Canada, the Ontario Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conservatoire de musique du Québec.

To all of his teaching, he brings the special perspective and insights of a seasoned composer and performer.
